| I was born
in Albuquerque New Mexico, and was involved in creative endeavors from a
very early age. After recording and touring with a band known as the
Burgundy Runn, I completed undergraduate university studies in Music
Theory and Composition, and Religious Studies. Eventually this
led to wider explorations of creativity. In 1988, I received a
Masters degree in Arts and Consciousness Studies from John F. Kennedy
University. Later, I received a Masters Degree in Divinity and a Ph.D. in
Education. Currently, I am Artist in Residence and teacher at the Immaculate Heart of Mary
School in Madison, Wisconsin. I have continued my artistic
explorations at various workshops, and have studied drawing and painting
with Kalpana Prakash at the Monroe Street Fine Arts Center in Madison.
Incorporating
material from diverse sources, I work to arrange subject matter in a
way that expresses some truth about life, about what it means to be
human in a less than perfect world. I
use the technical tools of drawing and composition in combination
with insights into color, pattern, form and line to
create art that expresses a sense of meaning in life and a view of
the world more hopeful and positive than is commonly found in these
times.
